How to find us
"I'll be the six-foot skinny guy that looks like the guy in the picture, without the French-inspired headgear."
Where:
Dorothea Dix soccer fields, which are not now, and at given the price never going to be, reserved. Thus if you show up and see soccer and football players everywhere, look harder, like up on the ridge where there's another field difficult to see and off up the road where there are a lot of open fields. Besides all the available land, I think Dix is a good spot for reasons of geography as well: it is central and easy to reach in Raleigh, while being fairly accessible to the interstate for non-Raleigh players.
When:
1pm on Saturday, the 17th of May
What to bring and wear:
Bring something white and something dark to play in, to help make teams with each game. Water. If you pleged to bring food to the first event, please bring water (other than just for yourself) instead. Frisbee. A friend that you can outrun, or a short friend you can't outrun but you can out-catch. :)
How is this going to work:
When you show up I'll be the guy with the military hair-cut and a disc. The style of play we're looking at is just above "hit me I'm open!" and well below the annoying "PICK!" I want people who have little to no experience and those that used to play a lot but are not looking for regimented games.
So, to let more experienced guys and gals know how we'll do it:
- No stacking
- Stall counts to ten
- Obviously no travelling or double teaming, but if no one calls a pick violation it will be wonderfull.
- I may have everyone force to allow everyone to use their backhand, since a lot of less experienced players (and those of us who haven't played in forever) don't have real good forehand
- We'll keep the score with every game (is it even a game if you don't?)
- ...But we'll probably change the teams around a lot (remember TWO shirts)
If you didn't understand any of that, you found the right ultimate frisbee group! WE ARE PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS!
